Living and working in Brunei

Are you planning to live and work in Brunei for an extended period? Brunei has certain health requirements. A medical examination is a mandatory part of the visa application process.
We regularly perform these medical examinations for expats who are staying in the country for a longer period of time. The medical examination for visa applications for Brunei is very extensive.
We charge an all-inn rate, so you will not be faced with any financial surprises. We operate a one-stop-shop, scheduling all examinations on the same day so that you only have to visit us once.

The embassy uses a standard form that must be completed: ‘Medical Report for foreign worker for employment in Brunei Darassalam’. The form consists of several parts: your medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, chest X-ray, and vaccination overview. The stool test is only necessary if you will be working with food.

The medical examination includes:

  • Chest X-ray;
  • Various blood tests, including hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, and malaria;
  • Stool test (optional);
  • Physical examination;
  • Height/weight;
  • Medical history;
  • Urine test for glucose, protein, infections, and blood values;
  • Blood pressure;
  • Pregnancy test (for women only).

What should you bring to the examination?

  • The form from the consulate;
  • Your passport;
  • Any medication or a list from the pharmacy;
  • Urine (containers are also available on site);
  • Glasses, if you wear them.

The medical examination takes approximately 30 minutes. Following our appointment, you can have a chest X-ray taken at the affiliated hospital (depending on the location of your visit). After the examination, the blood sample will be sent to the lab. If a stool sample is required, you will be given a collection kit. You can send this to the lab yourself (using the envelope provided).
As soon as the lab results and chest X-ray are inn, we will send you all the documents, both by email and (the original papers) by post, signed.

If you have any questions about the medical statement or other examinations, you can always contact us via our contact form or call +31 (0) 228 – 543 903.
